Instructions:

- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the potato and onion mixture to the skillet, pressing down to form an even layer. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Use a spatula to flip the rösti and cook on the other side until golden brown.
- Remove the rösti from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining potato and onion mixture, adding more vegetable oil to the skillet as needed.
- If desired, you can add extra ingredients such as grated cheese, ham, or herbs to add more flavor.
- Serve the rösti hot, accompanied by a sauce of your choice or with a green salad.
